Learning to Move Energy
Introducing Energy Body Mastery, a 7 week LIVE online class with the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing
Moving through this world with our five senses, it’s easy to forget that we live in an “ocean of energy,” as the yogic masters called it. There is much going on all around us, at all times, that cannot be perceived by our senses.
Those of us who have experienced altered states of consciousness (by way of visionary plant medicine ceremony, or other means) have sometimes caught a glimpse into this energy field that overlays our world. What most contemporary people don’t realize is that it’s actually quite easy to learn how to move energy, gather energy, and put it into our bodies daily to cultivate well-being and to live with passion and purpose.

For some people this may sound hard to believe - like the stuff of a superhero film - but the simple fact is that the human body is a miraculous biocomputer that’s capable of profoundly more than most of us are aware of. Wisdom traditions that fully activate the human body to its full energetic potential have been discovered, lost, found, suppressed, practiced in secret, and taught openly to entire civilizations at different points and in various cultures throughout the ages. Some examples are chi gong, tai chi, breathwork, and yogic practices that raise kundalini.
The Western world seems to be entering into a much-needed spiritual renaissance, reviving ancient teachings and confirming their legitimacy through science. Dr. Joe Dispenza and others have shown through scientific research what the ancient sages and ayahuasca shamans have known to be true for millennia - that our body creates an energy field, our heart generates its own energy field, and through focused practice we can strengthen, shift, and direct the energy around and within us.
The first stage of traditional shamanic training is learning energy body hygiene. Shamanic teacher Christina Pratt says: “To live well in your human body you must think of it as an energy body and a physical body. The world looks physical and solid, but in reality it’s all energy and it’s all connected - and so are you. Whether you are engaged in religion, spirituality, shamanism or just plain living life you are still an energy being living in an energy world.”
The upcoming Energy Body Mastery class (starting Sunday January 28th) is taught by shamanic healer and teacher Langston Kahn, who co-leads the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing with Christina Pratt. I’ve taken this course in the past and will be retaking it to dive deeper (once you sign up, it’s free to retake each year). Weekly 2-hour class sessions (Sundays at 9am PST, 12 EST) go over important concepts, and the homework entails practicing chi gong and various guided visualizations that will train you to:
Sense, feel, and cleanse your energy body
Ground into the heart of the earth and draw earth energy into your body
Connect to the highest power of the universe (however you envision or define it) and draw cosmic energy into your body
Create intelligent, flexible energetic boundaries around your personal space
Create energetic boundaries around your heart that protect it and allow it to relax into love
Draw wisdom from your 3 intelligence centers: the mind, the heart, and the gut
Clear the main energy centers (chakras) within your body
Clear cords and contracts to free up your energy from past relationships
Work with emotional triggers to find and resolve their root causes

My wife Azra offers weekly low-cost private and group Tension/Trauma Release Exercises, a somatic healing modality that discharges pent-up stress from the body and nervous system without needing to go into stories about the past. It’s a practice I do several times a week that is a cornerstone of my well-being.
Azra and I together offer free weekly group calls for women in the veteran community (veterans and family members of veterans) through The Hope Project, on Wednesdays at 11am PST/2pm EST.
